Google’s Find My Device uses an encrypted, crowdsourced network of other Android devices to help you find lost items like Bluetooth trackers, phones and headphones. But the network rollout has been slow and confusing, especially because the default settings make it harder to find your lost items. Change these settings so it works more like Apple’s Find My network.

This video shows how you can use the Google Find My Device tool to locate and find a lost device. Find My Device is an application and service provided by Google to remotely trace and locate such as phones, tablets and watches using a map.

Find My Device uses map to locate and trace the exact location the android device was located before if the location is not available. It allow users to remotely locate any android device linked with their Google Account.

1. See your phone, tablet or watch – If current location isn’t available, a users will long be able to see the last known location the device was on a map.
2. Use indoor maps – When the device is lost in places like airports, shopping centres or other large buildings this feature help users to locate the lost device by using the buildings map.
3. Navigate user’s device with Google Maps – Users can tap the device location and then the Maps icon.
4. Play a sound – The feature plays the device’s full volume even if the device is set to silent or don’t disturb modes.
5. Secure device – It allow users to remotely lock their devices and the users is also able to send the message to the lost device and provide cell phone numbers that can be contacted in regard of the owner of the device.
6. Erase – It allow users to delete all the content in their lost devices. The device can’t be re-located once all the content from the device is erased.

How To Find A Lost Android Smartphone or A Device on Silent Mode Using Google Find My Device

Parameters you can control or see for your lost device:
– Android Smartphone (Device) Model
– Network
– Battery
– Signal
– Google Maps – Last seen time and GPS location
– Google Maps Timeline – A timeline of locations the device has been
– Play A Sound – Device will ring for 5 minutes, even if set to silent.
– Secure Device – Lock device and sing out of your Google Account. You can also display a recovery message or phone number on the lock screen for anyone who finds your device. You can still locate the device after it’s locked.
– Erase Device – Erase all content from the device. After your device has been erased, you can’t locate it. May require sign-in. “Erase” Device” feature will factory reset your device remotely

How To Setup Secure and Erase?
Simple click on “Setup Secure and Erase” you will then receive a notification on your android device. Tap on “Setup Secure and Erase” on your device and this will allow you to lock your phone or perform a remote factory reset (data wipe) on your device to protect your data if you lose it.

1. Be turned on
